MOGAPENG-Mopani District Executive mayor Cllr. Pule Shai said that the Tours Water Project that is earmarked to benefit 25 villages in the Bulamahlo cluster, Greater Tzaneen, has reached 90% completion. The mayor announced during his visit to Mogapeng village earlier today that the municipality is busy with a water reticulation project.

During an imbizo, the mayor said that thousands of houses in Masoma and Mashiloane villages are already benefiting. He said that as the project nears 90% completion, Mogapeng village residents will receive water directly from their houses.

“Today we are opening water at this family. We can attest that indeed there is progress in this project with 1652 households already receiving water. As we approach the end of Human Rights month, this is the best way to restore dignity out of the work that our forebears sacrificed to ensure that we have this freedom. “, the mayor said.

One of the residents Hilda Sebatana said that the project has brought great relief to the community.

“We were struggling with water. There were people in the community who were not getting water. We are happy that the entire community will now have water”, Sebatana said.

Phase one of the project is said to have benefitted 20 small businesses through sub-contracting. The work assigned to SMMEs included the construction and installation of yard connection with standpipes, installation of fire hydrants and valve chambers
