Three suspects linked to kidnapping and business robbery in Khujwana village arrested

KHUJWANA-Three suspects aged between 29 and 32 arrested for cases of kidnapping and business robberies will appear before Ritavi Magistrate’s Court, on Thursday, 10 August.

This group of suspects was arrested after being positively linked with cases of kidnapping and business robberies that occurred at the Ritavi Policing area during March and July this year(2023).

In one of the incidents reported, On 08 July 2023, at about 11h00 the victim who is a  woman, was kidnapped at Khopho village outside her shop by suspects driving in a Toyota Quantum. A ransom amount of money was paid to the suspects. Police were notified and investigations were activated.

In another incident, that occurred on 23 March 2023, at about 09h00, the suspects driving a purple VW Polo robbed the owner of a supermarket in Mohlaba Cross of a cell phone, cigarettes, and an undisclosed amount of money. The owner was also kidnapped.

His family were contacted and paid a ransom amount. Police were notified about the incident for further investigation.

The Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe after these incidents, ordered a team of investigators to trace and arrest the suspects. A team was activated and the three suspects were linked with the cases and ultimately arrested. The Provincial Commissioner hailed the Team of Investigators for successfully tracing and arresting the suspects. The victims in these cases were all released.

The suspects might be linked to more cases as investigations unfold.
