MODJADJISKLOOF – Three police officers, aged 37, 47, and 50, stationed at Modjadjiskloof, have been arrested and are set to appear before the Tzaneen Magistrate’s Court on April 4, 2025.

They face charges of housebreaking, theft, and malicious damage to property.

The officers, allegedly involved in corrupt activities, reportedly broke into the police station’s storeroom on March 20, 2024.

The incident came to light when the complainant, responsible for the storeroom, received a phone call from one of the officers on duty, alerting her that the storeroom had been left open, and the three officers were inside.

Upon receiving the call, an investigation was launched, uncovering that the officers had gained unauthorized access to the storeroom using a small padlock with a different key.

It is alleged that the officers took cigarettes, which were listed as exhibits, and loaded them into a police van. They were then instructed to offload the items after their actions were discovered.

The case was handed over to the Limpopo Provincial Anti-Corruption Unit, who conducted a thorough investigation. As a result, the three police officials were charged with housebreaking with intent to steal, theft, and malicious damage to property.

Limpopo Provincial Commissioner of Police, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, condemned the actions of the officers, reaffirming that corruption within the police force would not be tolerated. “If you are alleged to be involved in criminal activities, you should be afforded the opportunity to have your day in court,” General Hadebe said.

The police investigation remains ongoing, with the three accused officers scheduled to appear in court on April 4, 2025.
