POLOKWANE-Three people sustained moderate injuries after an MRI scan that was being decommissioned accidentally expelled huge volumes of air at the Pietersburg Hospital Radiology Unit on Tuesday, August 20.
The Limpopo Health Spokesperson, Neil Shikwambana says the air expulsion caused infrastructure damages at the unit, resulting in the injury of the three staff members.
“The injured are two employees of Pietersburg Hospital and the technician from a private company that was decommissioning the MRI scan” Shikwambana said
MEC Dieketseng Mashego rushed to the health facility to see the extent of the damage and to wish a speedy recovery to the injured.
No casualties were reported.
An assessment is still being made to establish the cause of the damage. Developments will be provided as they become available.
