POLOKWANE-Three people were arrested Tuesday July 19 for Security tender scam.
The suspects who masqueraded as employees of the Department approached a Polokwane based security Company and demanded money to assist with the awarding of a Security Tender.
The Company owner who suspected foul play set a trap after he was lured to deliver a sum of cash before he could be issued with an appointment letter.
Three suspects, two females and a man were apprehended on the spot just before the exchange of the demanded cash.
In a statement the department spokesperson Mike Maringa is warning the public that the Department has never advertised a security tender and people must not fall prey to the scam.
“Our officials will not demand money for advertised tenders and we urge members of the public to always report when approached to pay for tenders,” said Maringa
