Three alleged cattle thieves arrested, minibus quantam torched in N’wamitwa.

MAVELE- Two women and one man travelling in a Toyota Quantum were arrested in connection with the theft of two cattle, while other two-armed men fled, on Tuesday. December 12  at Mavele Village under Nwamitwa.

The suspected stock thieves allegedly stole two cattle in Giyani slaughtered them and stashed them in a white Toyota Quantum with a registration number CGF 487 L, rumoured to be from Ga-Mokwakwaila village in Bolobedu. 

According to our sources, the suspected 5 stock thieves were being chased by a bakkie, believed to be of a cattle owner, who then discontinued the chase by shooting at one of the quantum’s tyres in Mavele Village. 

After the 15-seater quantum was brought to a standstill, the shooting allegedly continued which led to the two armed suspects running away, while the other three which include two women and one man were captured by the community before they could run, and the police were immediately informed for arrest and recovered the two freshly slaughtered cattle. 

The two stolen cattle were cut off their heads and their stomachs were pierced off to remove the intestines, which were scattered all over the 15-seater minibus.

Upon the departure of the Police, the angry residents of Mavele then torched the Toyota Quantum into ashes.
