GA – SEKORORO: It is not a common scenario where one would encounter an officer of the law, who is also a musician.
But in this regard, Captain Dineo Lucy Sekgotodi is juggling both professions with relative ease.
In an interview with Tzaneen Voice, the bubbly Sekgotodi firstly reassured that she is a born again, hailing from a Christian family, which loves and fears God.
It was that introduction that gave it away as far as guessing which genre of music is she performing.
The Willows born – star is currently a Rank of Captain in Mpumalanga Province Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation and a Gospel Musician.
The 48-year-old says she first developed interest in music when she was working at Come to Jesus Ministry, where she was a chorus leader, program director as well as a CD recorder.
Amongst her qualifications includes National Diploma in Policing (UNISA) Government Communication and Marketing Certificates (WITS) and she is currently completing a Bachelor of Arts in Police Science with the Unisa.
“I’m also a qualified Suicide and Hostage Negotiator and also an Instructor /Lecture/Facilitator. I have been engaged in many negotiations whereby I managed to rescue the victims and subjects safely in many occasions” she said
Captain Sekgotodi is a dedicated community builder and who was awarded Limpopo Woman of the year for her work

“I was trained as Medical + Community Chaplain and recently I was promoted to the Rank of Captain and appointed as a leader or Commander of Mpumalanga Chaplains”

In 1998, she enrolled with University of Venda, worked at Hoedspruit Independence Private school as a Music teacher, then in 2004 she joined SAPS Hoedspruit as a Data Capture.
She then worked at Ritavi, Phalaborwa and Namakgale SAPS as a Spokesperson.
In 2016, Captain Sekgotodi was promoted from Constable to the Rank Captain as the Spokesperson of the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation-The Hawks in Mpumalanga Province
Just after her promotion, in 2018 she recorded her first Gospel Music Album, but it was not published because of the sound until 2021 when she recorded a new album which she refers to as a “Powerful Album”.
