PHALABORWA-Local tourism is certainly on the road to recovery as this weekend’s event saw satisfactory occupancy at the town’s restaurant, Chisa Nyama and breakfast establishments.

This follows the 11th Annual Phalaborwa Spring Carnival that attracted thousands of music lovers who made their way to Impala Park Stadium on Saturday, September 30.

According to Eddy Malapane a representative of the Phalaborwa Tourism sector, the accommodation was fairly booked just below maximum and restaurants were packed throughout the day till closing times

“Most of the patrons are domestic tourists coming from neighbouring districts who might have chosen to travel forth and back because of the short distances. As the tourism sector we are happy to see this kind of an event come to a success in Ba Phalaborwa” Malapane said

The Ba-Phalaborwa signature boosted a lineup of national and local artists such as DJ Fresh, Big Zulu, Focalistic, Blaque Diamond, DJ Stego, DJ Fansoul and many others.

Even after the event suffered some setbacks after King Monada and Janisto pulled out of the festival in the eleventh hour the event organisers Lefa Promotions said that did not music lovers to descend to the mining town.

“We are happy with the attendance and in 2024 we promised  to continue improving the festival as it has become the bread basket for the Tourism sector in Phalaborwa and mostly it benefits entrepreneurs and locals”

“The VIP and VVIP tickets were sold out and local entrepreneurs also bought all stalls,” said Thabiso Mkhombo
