MAKHADO- An 18-year-old was beaten to death in an apparent mob justice incident for allegedly attempting to rob a shop in Madombidzha Zone 2 outside Makhado.
He had been caught stealing from a shop on Thursday evening and was tied his hands and severely beaten to death by furious residents.
The victim was allegedly responsible for a number of crimes in the area and neighbouring villages.
Police issued a warning to community members not to take the law into their own hands.
“We strongly advise against taking the law into your hands. Whenever a community member spots any wrongdoing, they must report or hand it over to the police,” police said
Those who took the law into their own hands could end up becoming suspects in serious crimes.
A case of murder is being investigated,
Police confirmed.
