NWAMITWA—Following reports of an alleged incident when learners were reportedly struck by lightning at Akanani Junior primary school, Greater Tzaneen, on Monday morning, it has been confirmed that a total of twenty-eight (28)learners, an educator and a cook were among those who were inflicted.
The unfortunate incident is said to have occurred in a mobile classroom belonging to grade 6 learners.
Parents and community members were sent into panic as the news broke out and some hurriedly rushed to the school to rescue their children. However, the headmaster Matilda Ngobeni allayed the parents’ fears and said that there was no reason for panic as the situation was under control.
The affected parties were reportedly rushed to Letaba hospital for medical assessment where they were said to have been treated for shock. Lessons continued as normal at the school this morning.
