SEKGOSESE-A group of women from Senwamokgope village, Sekgosese, under Greater Letaba, have come out guns blazing after they were left high and dry by an alleged scammer.
This comes after the women allegedly made hefty contributions to a stokvel that was owner of Valambya micro lending, started failing to pay them their share.
Allegedly, the money that was paid to the suspect’s account and is owed to them adds up to the total of three hundred and thirty-three thousand five hundred and twenty rands (R333, 520), which he swore he would pay back by December 15 but failed.
“The stokvel was running smoothly for a while. In December 2021, David started ducking and diving. We summoned him to his office. On the day, he made an agreement and signed a document that obligated him to pay us but he has not kept his end of the deal. We have lost a lot of money “, Raphoko relayed.
It is reported that the group made attempts to have him traced and arrested by Sekgosese police but were discouraged after the police advised them against the idea citing that if the suspect is arrested, they might never recover their money.
Tzaneen Voice attempted to reach the prime suspect, however, the three numbers registered under his name were all on voicemail. On one occasion, his colleague answered and said that it was a wrong number.
Allegedly, the suspect has since moved office from Sekgosese around wholesale plaza and is believed to have opened another branch in the Mankweng area, Capricorn District.
