POLOKWANE – In a concerted effort to deal with illegal mining activities in Limpopo Province, members of the Illegal Mining Task Team and the local Police arrested sixteen (16) suspects aged between 22 and 52 arrested for alleged illegal mining activities and confiscated several equipment in Gravelotte outside Phalaborwa last night.
The members were busy conducting illegal mining operation in the Gravelotte policing area and when they approached Casteel Mine, they reportedly found around 50 people busy digging Gold materials.
The suspects immediately ran into different directions, leaving their equipment behind. The police gave chase and managed to apprehend 16 suspects.
The suspects will appear in Gravelotte on Monday.
