NKOWANKOWA- Reports indicate that the driver of a silver Volkswagen Polo TSI was allegedly hijacked at gunpoint in the Letsitele precinct travelling to Phalaborwa. The incident is reported to have happened on Friday evening, around 18:30.
It is said that the driver and a companion work in Polokwane and usually travel home to Phalaborwa on weekends.
The pair alleged that on the way, a car coming from behind passed them and stopped in front of their car abruptly, forcing them to stop. The hijackers, two males, one pointing a firearm and another one with a knife, allegedly proceeded to come out of their car and ordered them out of the car.
The pair, fortunately, managed to escape afterwards. A car tracker later reported that the vehicle was involved in an accident. The vehicle’s registration plate is DWT157L. Police are investigating.
