Shut Down Giyani Called-off

Giyani-Following a meeting of stakeholders that comprised of Eskom, GGM, SAPS, and organisers of the shutdown, a decision to call off the strike was taken today, June 27.

This, after Eskom, resolved to attend to the community’s grievances as raised by the delegation.

Amongst others, Eskom committed to embark on a mass household audit exercise to clean the system of all illegal connections, which according to Eskom necessitate load reduction.

Eskom resolved to re-open the local Eskom offices which form part of the community grievances.

In her closing remarks, GGM Mayor Cllr Thandi Zitha thanked Eskom and the other stakeholders for what she referred to as a fruitful meeting.

“Let us work together as a team to ensure successful implementation of the resolutions”.

Also in the meeting were General Mashaba, Brigadier Serakwane, head of Water, Sanitation and Electricity portfolio Cllr Maluleke GA and Mr. Ceko of Eskom.
