POLOKWANE- In a poignant display of solidarity and compassion, Julius Malema, leader of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), has stepped in to cover the medical expenses for rapper Lehlogonolo Chauke, widely known as Shebeshxt, following a devastating car accident.

The crash, which occurred on the R37 road near Smelters Mine in Limpopo, tragically claimed the life of Shebeshxt’s nine-year-old daughter and left the rapper and fiance seriously injured.

The accident unfolded on a harrowing Saturday night when Shebeshxt’s Volkswagen Polo collided with a truck and overturned. The rapper’s daughter, who was among the three passengers in the car, succumbed to her injuries at the scene.

Tidimalo Chuene, spokesperson for Limpopo’s transport department, confirmed the incident and the severe injuries sustained by Shebeshxt and another passenger.

In the immediate aftermath of the tragedy, Shebeshxt’s family reached out for assistance. Family spokesperson James Magoro recounted how they contacted Malema, who responded swiftly to their plea.

“Immediately after we were faced with this tragedy, we contacted him [Malema] and he was able to get Shebeshxt out of the public hospital and transferred to a private hospital within a few hours. Malema covered all the medical costs,” Magoro told TimesLIVE.

Shebeshxt, known for his energetic performances and the popular track “Ambulance” is currently recovering in a private hospital in Polokwane.

The financial burden of his medical treatment was lifted by Malema’s intervention, allowing the family to focus on healing and mourning their irreplaceable loss.

The Chauke family remains deeply grateful for Malema’s support during this challenging time, as they navigate the aftermath of the accident and the heartbreaking loss of Shebeshxt’s young daughter.
