NAMAKGALE-Musician Lehlonolo Chauke, also known as Shebeshxt allegedly displayed a firearm towards the crowd during a performance at Phosphate Community Center in Namakgale on Friday night.

The controversial artist was performing during the PHB Kasi Freshers Ball event.

Shebeshxt was the main artist supported by local artists hosted by Tshepo Twizz Maditsi as part of the club Live which specialises in hosting prominent artists in Phalaborwa.

Shebeshxt immediately posted on social media to respond to the incident.

“If you think that toy gun I showed at the school event is real, you’re wrong.” he wrote

In the video Shebeshxt is seen taking a gun at the end of his performance and immediately taking it back into his back pack.

The event organiser Tshepo Twizz Maditsi also responded with a Facebook post and said it was a toy gun and they planned it.

According to the Law, the pointing of the firearm to the public can be seen as: Intimidation and Disturbing public peace.

If the gun is not licensed there will be additional charges.

Referencing Section 120(6) of the Firearm Control Act, it is an offence to point a firearm at a civilian without intent for self-defence.

The Lebowakgomo-born hip-hop star is not stranger to controversy, last month he was caught on camera throwing a bottle at a man and later apologised on Facebook.
