TZANEEN- The SA Weather Service has issued a yellow level 2 warning for severe thunderstorms in various parts of the country, including the Greater Tzaneen Municipality on 11 December 2023.
They’ve also warned that there’s a risk of localised flooding, which could cause significant disruption and storms will likely result in heavy rainfall, large amounts of small hail, damaging winds, and excessive lightning.
To ensure your safety during these storms, we strongly advise you to take the following precautions:
– Avoid crossing flooded roads and swollen streams as the water levels can be unpredictable and dangerous.
– Refrain from seeking shelter under trees or tall objects as they may be struck by lightning.
– Avoid low-lying roads and bridges that are prone to flooding.
– Do not engage in activities like fishing or playing golf that may put you at risk during thunderstorms.
