GA-MATIPANE-The School management of Senakwe Primary School and the School Governing Body (SGB), in -Ga-Matipane village, Greater Letaba, are at loggerheads over the corruption of the newly selected candidates.
Members of SGB, accuse some teachers of corruption and under-handedness. This comes after the positions of Head of Department (HOD) and school principal were advertised and the acting school principal allegedly tampered with the candidate’s list.
Speaking exclusively to Tzaneen voice, an SGB member, (who did not want to be named for fear of victimization), indicated that these shenanigans disrupted the hiring process and caused division and disorder in the school.
“We selected potential candidates for the vacant positions as a school. The acting principal sabotaged the entire process by swapping the candidate’s list with her draft. When we confronted her, she admitted and apologised? We then proceeded to the Circuit management; however, we were dismissed on numerous occasions. In one meeting, they cited that, we don’t have a strong case. The system is a mess. We, therefore, plead for intervention “. He said.
When questioned, the acting principal, Ngoakwana Mopai, refuted the claims that she had attempted to manipulate the hiring process, admitted to it, and eventually apologised.
Tzaneen Voice contacted the Department of Education spokesperson, Tidimallo Chuene for a comment.
“SGB members should know how to best deal with the matter. It must be escalated to the Circuit Manager, District Director or Governance Team at Provincial office”. She said
Tzaneen Voice is still awaiting the outcome of the SGB meeting that was held on Sunday, January 30, to find a way forward amidst the challenges.
