GIYANI – Nkhensani Mahlaule, a teacher at Selwane Primary School, is set to reappear in the Ritavi Magistrate’s Court today, Thursday, alongside her alleged accomplices. The group faces charges related to the brutal murder of Mahlaule’s husband, Raymond Themba Mathebula, an educator at Laerskool Kremetart in Giyani.
Mathebula’s body was discovered on June 15, 2024, inside a burned-out vehicle near the Constantia Mphagani Bridge. The discovery sent shockwaves through the local community, sparking an intensive police investigation that eventually led to Mahlaule and her relatives being linked to the crime.
Police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba confirmed that a manhunt resulted in their arrests. “This heinous crime demonstrates a deeply concerning level of brutality,” he said.
The State opposed bail during the October hearing, citing the severity and circumstances of the murder. Consequently, Mahlaule and her co-accused have remained in custody while investigations proceed.
Today’s court appearance is expected to address further legal proceedings. Authorities have reassured the public that they are committed to ensuring justice for Mathebula and his grieving family.
