SESHEGO-The Police in Seshego have arrested a 39 year old Security officer following a fatal shooting incident that occurred on Tuesday morning, 1 April 2025, at Juju Valley informal settlement, outside Polokwane.
During an eviction operation conducted by security officers, violence allegedly erupted when occupants reportedly began attacking security officers with stones, resulting in the damage of a TLB vehicle. Amid the chaos, a shot was fired, resulting in the fatal wounding of a 63-year-old man. The man was declared dead at the scene.
The members of Public Order Policing who were deployed in the area, managed to stabilize the situation. A case of murder has been opened which resulted in the arrest of a security officer in connection with the shooting. The Police confiscated four licensed firearms belonging to the security company for ballistic analysis.
Police investigations are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the shooting incident. The suspect is expected to appear before the Seshego Magistrate’s Court soon facing a charge of murder.
