GIYANI – The extensive search operation to locate an 8-year-old boy, Rifumo Chabalala, enters day 15 at Khakhala village in the Muyexe policing area, outside Giyani.
Rifumo Chabalala has been missing since Monday afternoon, 3 June 2024. According to preliminary information, the child left home around 16:00 to play with friends at the local soccer field but never returned.
The family reported his disappearance to the local police the following day, on Tuesday. A joint search operation was promptly launched, involving members of SAPS Muyexe and Giyani, the Search and Rescue unit, and the K9 Unit, supported by community members. Despite extensive efforts, the search has not yet yielded any results.
The police are appealing to anyone with information that might assist in reuniting Rifumo with his family to urgently contact the investigating officer, Warrant Officer Tinyiko Mabasa, at 067 565 0240. Alternatively, people can contact the Crime Stop number at 08600 10111, the nearest police station, or use the MySAPSApp.
As the search enters its 15th day, the community remains hopeful and vigilant, continuing to support the family and authorities in their efforts to find Rifumo and bring him home safely.
