PRETORIA-People who normally apply for social grant on the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) online platform will have to look at alternative means.

This comes after the SOE announced that the system and infrastructure will undergo routine maintenance which is envisaged to run for a period of 4 weeks, from 20 to 26 May, 2022.

During this time, the SRD website will not be available. Beneficiaries are advised to transact at retail merchants namely: Shoprite, Checkers, Boxer, Usave and Pick ‘n Pay. The challenge will inevitably extend to post office branches as well.

Applicants for the COVID-19 Social Relief of Distress grant are encouraged to update their details on the system to have the grant paid into their personal bank accounts. Alternatively, recipients must visit www.srd.sassa.gov.za to select an option to collect the grant from the aforementioned retail merchants.

To check your COVID-19 grant status, visit the SRD website:https://srd.sassa.gov.za/sc19/status. Enquiries should be directed to the SASSA call centre on 0800 60 10 11.
