Tropical stream squad beat Boabab Stream 4-1 in the inaugural Farpost Tournament 2022 at Nkowankowa Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The Farpost tournament is aimed at selecting best players that will represent Mopani region in the provincial showdown and could be further selected to form the team that would tour America later on.

Former Bafana Bafana and Kaizer Chiefs legend Doctor Khumalo and Former Bafana Bafana captain Aaron Mokoena were among dignitaries who graced the event.

GTM Mayor Cllr Gerson Molapisane, Doctor Khumalo and Far post representatives watching the game.

Tropical Stream (Greater Tzaneen) troops which was guided by Nkowankowa Barcelona mentor Peace Khoza, won 2-1 against Zebras (Greater Giyani) in their first game before they went on a 4-1 demolishing mission in their final encounter against Baoabab Stream (Greater Letaba Municipality), who had edged Marula (Ba-Phalaborwa Municipality) 2-1, to earn their space on the final showdown.

Khoza, who was voted Coach of the tournament, was delighted by his charges and commended them for following the game plan.

“Firstly, I want to thank my players for the performance that they gave, even the technical team I was working with Evans Shingange.

Every player gave their all with the hope of being selected.

We did a good job and I’m happy for the boys because some of them it might be the first time, they have won the trophy or a gold medal but overall I’m happy.” Said Khoza.

“Our plan was simple to catch them on the counter break. If you can check goal number one and the second, we allowed them to start the play from the back and we knew that we will counter them and score,” he further said.

The Farpost Tournament will be host at Sekhukhune district
