HOEDSPRUIT-Residents of Finale Village close to The Oaks in Maruleng Local Municipality Ward 03, along with neighbouring villages, have been urged to exercise extreme caution following reports of four lions roaming near their area.
The lions are believed to have escaped from a nearby game farm, though details of their escape remain unclear.
Community members reported sightings of the lions, and there have been close encounters where some residents were nearly attacked.
Authorities have warned residents not to try and hunt or capture the animals themselves.
The incident has been reported to higher authorities, who are expected to handle the situation to ensure the safety of residents and capture the lions safely.
However the Department of Economic Development, Environment and Tourism Limpopo (LEDET / Nature Conservation have not issues any statement at this stage.
