SENWABARWANA-Residents in Senwabarwana say they will continue to protest at the police station following the release of Nchabeleng Masebe.
The 62 – year old who is the owner of two pitbull dogs that mauled Melitah Sekole was released on bail on Thursday afternoon.
Sekole, a 43 – year old was attacked by the two vicious dogs on the 23rd of December and succumbed to her injuries in hospital days later.
Masebe was first denied bail after the state found that he was in possession of two identity documents, one from South Africa and the other from Zimbabwe.
However, it has now been established that both documents are valid.
During court proceedings, state prosecutor Karabo Tefo said they would not oppose bail because Masebe was charged with a schedule one offence and had no prior convictions or pending cases.
Tefo also confirmed that Masebe’s dogs would be put down, after Masebe’s defence lawyer Mando Matshisevhe wrote a letter to the SPCA in Louis Trichardt giving permission for the dogs to be put to death.
Nthabiseng was released on R5 000 bail and is expected back in court on the 26th of April.
