Residents torch houses of Xichavo N’wandzule murder suspect

GIYANI-The police in Giyani have opened a case of arson after a house was burned down by angry mob at Homu 14C, on Tuesday.

Police said that an angry mob from Homu 14A, B and C this morning mobolized and torched the house belonging to Hlulani Magerere Shivambu’s family.

This follows after Shivambu (25) allegedly killed Xichavo N’wandzule on Sunday. It’s understood that the deceased was taking a walk with his friends, including his sister, when they were approached by the suspect who forcibly took N’wandzule’s sister to his house.

N’wandzule followed the suspect home to save his sister, and he was assaulted, stabbed several times and stoned to death.

A murder case was opened at the Giyani Police Station, and Shivambu was later arrested and charged with murder.

He appeared before the Giyani Magistrate’s Court ON Tuesday and his case was postponed until next  week Tuesday pending further police investigation.

The police are appealing to anyone with information which will lead to the arrest of those who burned down the house belonging to the suspect’s family to contact Warrant Officer Menyuko Muxe at 0827290327 or Crime stop number 0860010111, added Sergeant Ridgewell Rikhotso.
