LENYENYE- Parents who visited Ramalema Primary School, situated in Lenyenye, Greater Tzaneen, have made allegations against the acting headmaster of the school Essy Makgoba.
According to one parent, she was requested to pay R200, but, had already managed to pay R100. However, could not pay the remaining balance of R100.
“I did not have the balance today, but, I did not see the need to pay it because from the previous years, we’ve been paying R100 only. I am against the increment because there is always a surplus that we do not have any knowledge of its allocations”, she said.
The parent further averred that the principal insinuated that they could afford the money because they received government grants. Further, it is said that Makgoba even went on to say that the dress code of one of the parents is proof that she can afford to contribute.
”We don’t have the money, must we look like our problems. She blatantly refused to assist us citing that we can even refer the matter to the circuit office’, the parent fumed.
Tzaneen Voice contacted Makgoba who refused to comment before hanging up the phone.
In terms of Section 25 (12 and 13) of the national Protocol on Assessment 2011, a student’s “parents or guardians have the right of access to report cards of their children”, and “schools may not withhold report cards from learners for any reason whatsoever”.
This regulation applies to both public and independent schools from Grades R to 12.
