Raider Muleba becomes the first Limpopo woman boxer to win the South African Lightweight title after she beat the defending Champion, Ndobeyeni Kholosa in splits point at Nkowankowa Sports Centre on Sunday evening.

Mulenba entered the ring with the sole aim to clinch the title in the historic event organised by Hlanganisa Sports Promotions, the first boxing event of its magnitude in the province.

Speaking after the gruesome encounter, Mulenba, who easily dominated the first three rounds with her sheer speed and agility, was buoyed by what she had achieved and is determined to defend her title.

“It means a lot to me because I’m the first SA Champion in our province, it means that I must go back to the gym and work hard so that next time I must win with a unanimous decision or knock,” said Mulenba.

Kholosa’s team seemed not satisfied with the outcome and they stormed off the ring the minute the results were announced. The new SA Lightweight Champion says she will grant the Kholosa a rematch should she wish to challenge her.

“They are not satisfied with the results because they thought they will win and keep the belt forever, so I destroyed their plan. I will most definitely give them the rematch,” she said.

The event manager, James Mathonsi deemed the event a success.

“I’m very happy and emotional to produce the first-ever female South African champion to come from this area it’s history, you can bring other champions but this one has opened the way. It was a success.

Mathonsi hinted that there would be an international event that would be staged in Nkowankowa next year.
