RITA – It was a gloomy day on the R36 in the Greater Tzaneen Municipality on Sunday as three separate accidents occurred on the road in a space of 12 hours.
On the morning of Sunday, A Cyclist was knocked down and killed by a Volkswagen Polo, on the R36 road near the Maake Plaza Shopping Complex in Rita.
A few hours later, one person was critically injured while three others sustained minor injuries in a collision involving a Toyota Tazz and Nissan Hardbody on the R36 road near Molabosane, also in Rita on Sunday evening.
In another accident, this time at Magabane a man suffered serious injuries after a BMW and a truck collided also at R36 on Sunday afternoon.
When paramedics arrived at the scene, they found a vehicle slightly wedged underneath the back of the truck and one patient found stuck inside the vehicle.
The exact circumstances surrounding the incident were not known to paramedics, but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
