Printing Company Employee Arrested In Connection With Matric Exam Paper 2 Leak

PRETORIA- A 31-year-old Themba Daniel Shikwambana was arrested on Wednesday 26 November, following the Hawks’ corruption investigation for alleged theft of a 2020 Maths matric exam paper 2.
The exam paper was widely circulated in many provinces just days before the exam sit down.
Shikwambana who works for the printing company contracted to print the exam paper-based in Johannesburg by the department of basic education (DBE)  appeared in court yesterday November 30 and was granted R1000 bail. Hawk’s spokesperson,  Colonel Katlego Mogale confirmed his arrest and stated that Shikwambana is expected to appear again in court on January 27, pending further investigation.
In the previous month, Maths and physical science exam papers were leaked just days apart.
The minister of basic education Angie Motshekga was put on record stating that it’s all systems go with examinations and they are doing everything in their power to ensure learners complete writing their respective papers without any hindrance.
