BOYNE – President Cyril Ramaphosa joined millions of worshippers on Easter Sunday, April 20, 2025, at the Zion Christian Church (ZCC) headquarters in Moria, Limpopo, marking a powerful return to one of the largest Christian gatherings in the world.

Accompanied by Limpopo Premier Dr Phophi Ramathuba, Cabinet Ministers, and MECs, President Ramaphosa attended the annual Easter pilgrimage — the first major one since the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted gatherings from 2020 to 2024.

His Grace, The Right Reverend Bishop Dr B.E. Lekganyane, delivered a heartfelt and inspiring sermon that addressed critical societal challenges. He emphasized the urgent need to tackle unemployment, uphold moral leadership, and intensify the fight against gender-based violence and femicide.

The Bishop called on government and society alike to rise to these pressing challenges with renewed commitment and compassion.

The ZCC pilgrimage to Moria remains a cornerstone event on South Africa’s religious calendar, attracting pilgrims from across the country and neighboring nations like Botswana and Eswatini.

President Ramaphosa’s attendance continues his longstanding tradition of engaging with the ZCC, a church known for its vast influence in both cultural and political spheres.

This year’s Easter celebration in Moria marks not only a spiritual renewal but also a symbolic return to unity, faith, and national reflection after years of pandemic disruption.
