Police release identify of the former Univen student shot in Thohoyandou

THOHOYANDOU: The University of Venda community has been plunged into mourning following the murder of former student, Victor Rudzani Nemahagala.

The 29 – year old was shot and killed at Tshikudini village in Thohoyandou on Friday night.

The Police say on Friday 04 August 2023 at about 21:40,  Rudzani was driving a motor vehicle, a silver Toyota Hilux along Punda Maria road towards Drasalam.

While turning into a gravel road beside the road there was a motor vehicle, a white Nissan NP 300 with unknown registration numbers parked along the road. There were two unknown males, one seated inside while the other one standing outside. Seemingly shots were then fired from the Nissan NP 300 towards the Toyota Hilux.

The victim managed to drive away from the spot until he ultimately collided with the two motor vehicles that were parked beside the road.

It is alleged that the Nissan NP 300 suddenly drove off immediately after the shooting.

The victim was certified dead upon the arrival of the Emergency Medical Services personnel at the scene of the crime.

‘Rasta’, is well known for his business, Rasking Enterprises, which is synonymous with University students at Univen main gate.
