Police release details of 2 family members massacred by brother in-law

ZEBEDIELA: Tears rolled down the cheeks of mourners who convened at the Mmapulane family at Makgophong Village in Zebediela under Lepelle Nkumpi.

This was the memorial service of Adelaide and Reneilwe Mmapulane was held on Wednesday afternoon.

The duo were shot and killed by their in-law, who is a security officer on Saturday afternoon.

The suspect allegedly fought with his estranged wife and ended up moving back to her home.

Limpopo police say that the suspect found the victims inside the family motor vehicle and was about to leave when he opened fire on them. The suspect then fled the scene.

29-year-old Adelaide and 39-year-old Reneilwe Mmapulane, who was the sister and cousin of the estranged wife died in the shooting.

The estranged wife and a 1-year-old child are recovering in hospital.

Family spokesperson, Kebone Mathabatha told Polokwane Weekly during the memorial service that they live in fear as the suspect might come back and shoot them as well.

The hunt for the suspect, who is originally from Ga Sekororo under Maruleng municipality underway.
