PHALABORWA-Palabora Mining Company former employees who are now pensioners in partnership with Mopani RegionalEconomic Freedom Fighters marched to Palabora Mining company mine on Tuesday to demand an immediate payout from dividends of their shares.
They accuse the mine of dragging its feet and giving them excuses when it comes to paying them what is due to them after working for the mine for so many years.
Thpe march started at Bollanoto Tourism Centre as a gathering point in Phalaborwa and then it proceeded to the mine under the watchful eye of members of SAPS who came in 4 nyalas and several police vehicles.
Upon arrival, the executives from Palabora Mining Company Abby Ledwaba and Dennis Modise were guarded inside the gave by heavy police presence.
The latter got out to listen and sign the receipt of the memorandum of the pensioners. In the memorandum, the workers demand immediate payment of their shares dividends within five working days and their farewell money.
Booysen Sekgothodi one of the pensioners says they are tired of Abby Ledwaba and the PMC management making promises but playing hide and seek when it comes to payment of their money.
Thomas Ramalepe one of the pensioners says in December 2022 PMC promised to resolve these matters and never did all they did was bribe them with food parcels and left to go on holiday with their families.

He says they are waiting for more pensioners to submit supporting documents so that PMC can make a payment.
EFF Regional Chairperson Simon Mangena told PMC to do the right thing and pay the pensioners money owed to them if they do not want to feel the wrath of the mighty Economic Freedom Fighters because it has been a long that Abby Ledwaba and Dennis Modise dragging their feet when it comes to paying the pensioners.
