PHARARE VILLAGE-Maake police are investigating the murder of a 39-year-old man, who was stabbed to death on Sunday morning outside Tavern at Pharare Village in Greater Tzaneen.
A 35-year-old man was arrested few hours after the murder.
Preliminary Investigations revealed that the deceased and the suspect were drinking at Dinoko Tavern.
“The two engaged in a heated argument just after midnight at around 01:00 over a girlfriend that led to the stabbing,” eye witness told Tzaneen Voice
Tzaneen Voice has learnt that the deceased was Moses “Moscow” Shai, also known as “Uncle Dollar”.
According to the eye witness, the man produced a sharp object, stabbed the deceased multiple times, and then ran away.
The suspect appeared in the Lenyenye Magistrate’s Court on Monday, August 1. He was remanded in custody for a formal bail application.
Police are still conducting further investigations regarding the argument and the motive for the murder.
They are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward.
