GA-SEKORORO – The youth out there need to understand that there’s no quick formula to help one reach business goals. A person needs to set down oals and work hard towards achieving those bright goals.
The highly-spirited 24- year- old Mankoana Pheona Phalane of Ga- Sekororo village, started a self-funded farm due to the alarming unemployment rate in the country.
After realising that employment in this country is a nightmare, Phalane started PhalMosh Poultry Farm in March 2019.
The farm prides itself on the selling of live chickens, dressed chickens, and dressed and packaged chickens at affordable prices in line with quality. “I felt the need of starting a business that will keep me busy and I always strive to provide only quality chickens to my customers,” she said.
Speaking exclusively to Tzaneen Voice, Phalane says the main purpose of her business is to offer quality, fresh and tender chickens for local individuals, shisanyamas, supermarkets, retail stores, restaurants, hotels, and other organizations that might request chickens.
“We started from one small room that catered 200 chickens only, which the business used to afford 100 chicks every 4 weeks that generated profit for the business to build a structure in July 2019 where we are currently operating,” explained Phalane.
According to her, the other important aspect is focusing on the farm’s development, which will be able to provide employment to the community and to provide chicken waste that in turn will regenerate farming.
“The business has been operating at a limited space due to a lack of funds to get land and access to water,” Phalane added.
She further said that their target is to employ young people who can contribute to the economy by acquiring information and starting their own businesses with the training and skills they acquired from PhalMosh Poultry Farm.
“At the moment, we have two people, one full-time and the other is serving on a part-time basis.” Phalane concluded.
They offer delivery services of large orders to long distance areas at a lower fee.
The farm is located at stand number 967, Loss village next to the Modjadji store.
