Phalaborwa Teacher Sentenced to two life sentences for raping minor girls

LULEKANI-The accused Lesetja Hendrick Lepedi was sentenced to two life imprisonment by Lulekani magistrates court today, July 11. The sentencing follows the sexual assault of two minor girls aged 14 and 15 years respectively between the period of 2018 and 2019.

The accused is reported to have lured victims from the school he was teaching and played pornographic videos for them before sexually assaulting them. The incidents were reported to the headmaster of the school, who reported the matter to the police and Department of Social Development.

Moreover, the accused and an accomplice, Wisani Nkuna(38), tried to bribe the victims’ parents when cases were opened in an attempt to help the accused evade arrest.

Phalaborwa FCS unit Detective Sergeant Phionah Ndlovu worked tirelessly to bring the perpetrators to book.

Wisani was sentenced to 3 years imprisonment with the possibility of R6000 fine for defeating the administration of justice in the same court today.

Limpopo provincial commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has welcomed the outcome.

“We are delighted to have received this sentencing, which will be a perfect example to all other criminals and irresponsible men that lawlessness will send them to jail forever”, she said.
