ACORNHOEK-A 79-year-old man was severely beaten by an angry mob in Cottondale village, Acornhoek, after he allegedly kidnapped and raped a 14-year-old girl on Sunday, March 30, 2025.
According to reports, the pensioner saw two young sisters passing his house and called the elder sister inside, telling the younger one to go home.
The 14-year-old girl later reported the incident to her parents, who immediately went to the man’s residence. Initially, the man refused to open the door.
However, as the community gathered outside, he eventually opened, and they found the girl lying on his bed, wrapped in a blanket, with her underwear on the floor.
The girl was immediately taken to the hospital for medical examination. The community then dragged the man outside and subjected him to a brutal beating before police intervened.
The man was reportedly beaten until he lost control of his bowels. Police took him into custody.
He is scheduled to appear in the Acornhoek Magistrate’s Court this morning.
