POLOKWANE: The Capricorn District Public Transport Unit of the Department of Transport and Community Safety says it has stopped a 22-seater bus that was travelling from Zimbabwe to Cape Town ferrying 36 passengers along the N1, on the Mashishing and Silicone bypass.
It was later discovered that the overloaded vehicle doesn’t have an operating permit to travel in South Africa.
The vehicle was impounded at Polokwane Traffic Control Centre for further investigations and verifications of legal travelling documents by SAPS and Home Affairs.
The Department of Transport and Community Safety is concerned about the number of incidents involving illegal foreign vehicles travelling in South Africa without proper documents and calls on all foreign drivers to respect the laws of the country and apply for proper documents when entering the country.
