Over two thousand initiates returned home safely in Ga-Sekororo

GA-SEKORORO-About 2 000 boys and girls attended initiation schools in the Ga-Sekororo area under Maruleng municipality this season and they have all returned home safely.

It was a joyous day as initiates reunited with their families after spending weeks in the mountains learning to be men. Women ululated, and men whistled and danced to traditional songs. Indunas the area attributed the successful initiation season to cooperation between different role players, including parents

The initiates were excited about going home too.

Celebrations are expected to continue throughout the weekend in various villages.

At Madeira village Ga-Ntona Moraba More than 1500 initiates successfully graduated from the school.

Speaking to our publication Ntona Moroba said “I’m happy that I have returned home with my children. It was not a simple journey but have managed to complete the course. I’m very happy that all boys returned and no casualties were reported. Even our parents used to do this successfully. I would to take this opportunity to thank all the parents who have trusted me”

At Ga Fani Ntona Sentsho also successfully returned home over 400 boys and no casualties were reported.

Makgaung Village Ga Ntona Mongadi the boys also returned with no casualties and more than 500 boys returned home.

Metz Village also the boys return home while in Bismarck and Balloon man and woman have completed their initiation school on bogweera and Bjale.

According to Limpopo CoGHSTA, a total of  68,000 initiates are back home from the various initiation schools across Limpopo. Up to 11,000 female initiates successfully negotiated this important milestone into adulthood.

The oldest graduate is a 73-year-old man.
