KRUGERSDORP-Gauteng police are on the hunt for a group of armed men who raped and robbed eight women while shooting a music video in Krugersdorp, West Rand, on Thursday
According to the police minister Bheki Cele, a group of 10 suspects wearing blankets, balaclavas, and mining overalls approached the group as they were filming in an old, abandoned mine.
“We were told at midnight about the Krugersdorp incident. A group of 22 people were shooting a music video. There were 12 women, and 10 men. Ten more more arrived, and attacked them wearing blankets and balaclavas. Shots were fired. One woman was raped by 10 men simultaneously.”
A production crew was filming a music video in West Village when the men attacked them.
They fired shots into the air, searched the crew, and ordered them to lie down before alerting the other suspects who raped the models in nearby bushes.
The men then robbed everyone on set of their clothes, cell phones, rings, passports, watches, handbags, cash, cameras, and other valuables, according to the report.
Police Minister said ten men are suspected of carrying out the attack, and three of them have been arrested, while police continue to search the area for the remaining suspects.
“The victims were aged between 19 and 35. Most are young girls from either Alex or Soweto. They were robbed of their shoes, their possessions, and were stripped naked. It’s a bad situation” Minister Cele Said
