DURBAN – One suspect has been arrested at Moses Mabhida Stadium for allegedly selling Nedbank Cup Final 2025 match-day tickets that were initially allocated to official sponsors.
The arrest was made during heightened security operations as thousands of fans gathered for the highly anticipated clash between Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates.
Stadium officials, along with law enforcement, acted swiftly after receiving reports of suspicious activity involving the unauthorized sale of tickets.
In addition to the tickets, the suspect was also found in possession of event wristbands meant for registered service providers.
These wristbands grant access to restricted operational zones within the stadium, raising further security concerns.
Police have confirmed that the suspect is in custody and will be processed accordingly. He is expected to appear in court soon to face charges relating to fraud and the unlawful resale of event credentials.
Authorities have since issued a warning to the public not to buy tickets or access items from unauthorized sources, as such actions undermine safety and event integrity.
Investigations into how the items ended up in the suspect’s possession are ongoing.
Security remains tight at the venue, with officials urging fans to cooperate with access protocols.
