One robbery suspect from Bolobedu shot dead in a foiled robbery, and two others still on the run

GIYANI-The police in Giyani have opened a case of attempted business robbery, unlawful possession of firearm and ammunition and inquest on Monday,22 January 2024.

The police received information about attempted business robbery at Nkomo 22a village on Monday  22 January 2024 at about 20h20.They quickly went to the scene of crime where upon their arrival they found a community members  gathered outside the spaza shop.

They were approached by the owner of the spaza  shop that was attempted to be robbed by the suspect.He then informed them that three suspects entered the shop and one of them bought a cigarette and sweet .In the process of selling sweet and cigarette to this suspect,one of the three suspects then pointed at  the victim with firearm and demanded money and cigarette.

He then at that stage managed to grab one of the suspects and take a cover with  him,in the process one of these  suspects tried to shoot at  the victim and he unfortunately  missed the victim and he shot injured his partner in crime and fled the scene.

During the search of the victim that was shot by his partner in crime was found that the victim was in the possession of an unlicensed firearm and life ammunition.

Emergency personnel were summoned to the scene of crime and the deceased was treated at the scene and he was later transported to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

The deceased was identified as *Ramahlo Mpho Doctor* residing at Matshwi village under bolobedu policing area

Manhunt for the other two remaining suspects is underway and it is alleged that during the commission of crime were using Nissan 1400 bakkie without registration number cream white in colour
