NWAMITWA- The Tzaneen Regional Court sentenced Clifford Baloyi to life and 10 years imprisonment for the rape, robbery, kidnapping and sexual assault of two women in the Nwamitwa area.
Baloyi was convicted of two counts of rape which he committed in June 2017 at Letsitele Policing Area.
In the first incident, Baloyi raped a woman on June 17, 2017, while she was on her way to Lwandlamuni village outside Tzaneen.
The court heard that Baloyi appeared to the victim, armed with a knife and threatening to stab her.
The accused instructed the complainant to undress herself and after he raped her.
In the second incident, on June 24, 2017, Baloyi raped a woman who was on her way to Babanane village (Mamitwa) clinic.
The court heard that Baloyi warned the victim that she would be killed with a knife if she made any noise. After removing her pants and underwear, Baloyi raped the victim.
Baloyi was convicted by the Tzaneen Regional Court and was given a 10-year prison sentence for the first incident, and life imprisonment for the second incident.
