TZANEEN -In a unique celebration of Women’s Month, taxi drivers affiliated with the Nkowankowa Taxi Association took to the streets dressed as women, creating quite a stir in the community.
The drivers borrowed clothes from their wives, girlfriends, and daughters, completing their looks with wigs and makeup.
One of the drivers, Martin Khosa, shared with Tzaneen Voice, “We appreciate all women out there. They are genuinely inspirational and truly amazing.”
The initiative aims to shift the perception of the taxi industry, which is often criticized for disrespecting women. By dressing as women, these drivers hope to show their appreciation and change how they are viewed.
Participating drivers included Nhlanhla Vukosi Mongwe, Fana Manzini from Zanghoma, Dzunisani Mashele, Bongo Chris, Mafenya, and Keletso Mhlongo from Nkowankowa, along with Small Boy from Mhlava. Their gesture has been well-received by the community, marking a memorable tribute to Women’s Month.
