NKOWANKOWA-The family of a 13-year-old girl from Nkowankowa section C who was allegedly sexually assaulted on September 24, are hopeful to get justice for their child.
This comes after the suspect handed himself over to the Ritavi Police Station on Monday, October 02.
The 37-year-old suspect was reported to be on the loose after allegedly sexually assaulting the minor.
The parents of the victim reported that she was sent to a nearby spaza shop when the suspect allegedly called her into his RDP house, ordered her to lie down once inside, raped and threatened to kill her if she screamed or told anyone.
According to police reports, he was said to have given her fifty rands (R50) after the ordeal to buy her silence.
Upon discovering the news, the parents took the victim to hospital for medical examination where it was confirmed that she was indeed violated. The suspect was then confronted, but, he reportedly ran away afterwards.
A case was then opened at Ritavi Police Station.
