Nkowankowa family devastated after 7 bedroom house burns down

NKOWANKOWA- The Mzimba family in Nkowankowa, Greater Tzaneen are distraught after their seven (7) bedroom house was ravaged by fire that destroyed everything they owned and left them destitute.

The incident allegedly happened on Sunday evening, October 09.

According to the house owner, Salome Mzimba, the fire is suspected to have started inside an unused car that was parked in the garage.

“I work away from home so I was alerted to the incident by my children. They said that they were woken up by a loud explosion from the garage where the car was parked. They managed to get out of the house unscathed but unfortunately, they couldn’t salvage the situation”, she relayed.

The family of seven has two school children who were lucky to receive a set of school uniform from their school Meridian College. However, their problems are far from over as the entire roof of the house is gone and the house itself is inhabitable.

The fire started inside an unused car that was parked in the garage.

The family said that they have since taken refuge in a room that did not catch the flames. In light of this development, the Mzimba’s pleads with the masses and good Samaritans to help with basic necessities.
