Nine-year-old boy swept away by raging Lepelle river in Ga-Sekororo

WILLOWS –The police in Maake have opened an inquest docket after nine-year-old boy was swept away by an overflowing Lepelle river after torrential rains fell at the Willows in Maruleng Municipality.

It is alleged the boy was swept away by the river while playing with his friends, on Sunday, November 13 around 15h00 pm.

A shocked community and parents of the drowned children spent the morning grieving next to the stream that had claimed the lives of their children.

They pledged they would help police find the missing bodies.

A search was carried out immediately after the incident was reported that the boy has not been found as of the morning of November 14.

Police search and rescue will continue searching for the missing boy. Ward Cllr of Ward 02 Cllr Letebele have confirmed the incident.

Lepelle river is overflowing after heavy rain fall during the weekend.
