NDAVI NOKERI: From dusty village of Gavaza to the world

TZANEEN: The community of Gavaza in Tzaneen jumped into jubilation following a victory of one of their own.This as Ndavi Nokeri has been crowned Miss South Africa 2022.

The 23-year-old beauty was given her crown at a glittering pageant finale at the SunBet Arena Times Square in Pretoria on Saturday night.

She won the Crown after going toe to toe with Ayanda Thabethe, who had to settle for second place.

Nokeri, who hails from Gavaza village in the Greater Tzaneen Municipality, obtained her BCom Investment Management qualification from the University of Pretoria and was working as a consultant for an asset management firm in Cape Town at the time of her crowning.

As the new Miss South Africa, Nokeri received R1 million in cash in a prize and sponsorship package totalling more than R3-million including the use of a serviced apartment at the lavish Ellipse Waterfall – developed by Tricolt and Attacq – for the year of her reign. She will also get to drive a Mercedes-Benz C-Class sedan.

She replaces Lalela Mswane as Miss South Africa and follows in the footsteps of another Limpopo native, Shudufadzo Abigail Musida who got her crown in 2020.

Greater Tzaneen Municipality Mayor, Gerson Molapisane was one of the first dignitaries to congratulate the 23-year-old.

“Her victory has not only placed us not only on the national map, but her name will be heard on global stages so will be our name, said Molapisane.

Nokeri, who also won the People’s Choice award, will represent South Africa at the world’s three most prestigious pageants – Miss World, Miss Universe and Miss Supranational.
