NAMAKGALE-The Namakgale Magistrate’s Court has postponed the murder trial of 52-year-old Orscarin Selina Hlungwani to April 22, 2025.
Hlungwani is accused of murdering her husband, 63-year-old Soyaphi Moses Hlungwani, at their home in Malungane village, Namakgale, on August 27, 2024.
The court has ordered that the docket be transferred to the regional prosecutor for review and determination of whether the case should be heard in the regional court.
This decision marks a significant development in the case, which has been closely watched by the community.
A family member of the deceased, Abel Hlungwane, expressed satisfaction with the court’s decision. “We are happy with the decision the magistrate took,” Hlungwane said. “As long as they handle the documents carefully and conduct thorough investigations, we have faith in the justice system.”
The postponement of the trial to April 2025 will allow for further investigations and preparation of the case for potential trial in the regional court.
